Register 1: Coronation of the Virgin; two kneeling angels holding candlesticks.
Register 2: seated Virgin and Child (Vierge glorieuse); two angels holding candlesticks.

William and Davies (2014): French, 2nd quarter of the 14th century.

Unknown

Hinges
Irregularly placed holes for ring hinges. One metal ring remaining on left.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of gilding and polychromy: medallions in the spandrels, green (architectural details), Virgin's halo.

Reverse
Smooth and slightly curved.

Object Condition
Missing: upper part of the gable and base.
Hole drilled beneath the right arm of Christ in the Coronation scene.

Provenance
Purchased from Mrs McDermott, Islington, London, in 1881.
