Fleur-de-lys pattern; foliated decoration.

Longhurst 1929: French, 16th century.
Williamson and Davies 2014: French, middle of the 19th century.

Reverse
Carved on all sides.
Underside has three labels with inscriptions: 'O. Morgan Esq., M.P.', printed red numerals '922' (Salting Bequest), and circular sale label '502'.

Provenance
Collection of the antiquary and MP Charles Octavius Swinnerton Morgan (b. 1803, d. 1888), Newport, by 1874 (see label on the bottom). Collection of George Salting, London (before 1909); his bequest to the Museum in 1910.
