Traces of gilding: hair, haloes, hats, feathers, rope, flowers.
Reverse
Flat and smooth. Long vertical gash on the back of the right wing. Label with Salting Bequest number.
Object Condition
Long gash to back of the right panel. Left leaf stained from hinge plate rust.
Comments
The beheading of saint Catherine is inspired by Dürer's woodcut of the same sujectm c, 1496-1497 (Williamson and Davies 2014).
