Seated Virgin and Child; bare-chested Christ; Christ seated on the Virgin's left knee; Virgin holding a flower in her right hand; crown; bench; brooch.
Crosshatched background; columns.

Museum's opinion 2013: Northern Italy (?), late 14th-early 15th century.


Attribution
Unknown

Reverse
Curved. The handle which was originally set into a chamfered slot in the back has been lost.
Round trace on the back, possibly left by a flame.

Object Condition
A central hole at the top has caused the pax to crack and a piece of ivory is lost.

Provenance
Collection of Wilhelm Clemens (b. 1847, d. 1934), Cologne: donated with the rest of his collection to the city of Cologne in 1919-1920.
