Death of the Virgin (Dormition); apostles including saint John the Evangelist holding a book and martyr's palm; Christ holding the soul of the Virgin; apostle holding an open book.
Pointed trefoils in the gables and spandrels.

Institution's opinion 2015: French, 14th century.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the right side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Labels from previous Oscott inventories and auction.

Object Condition
Central hole in the upper part of the panel.
Two deep vertical cracks.

Provenance
Possibly purchased for Oscott College or left to Oscott College by either Augustus Welby Pugin (b. 1812, d. 1852) or his benefactor, John Talbot, 16th Earl of Shrewsbury (b. 1791, d. 1852).
