The silk cloth inside is worn.

Comments
Kryzhanovskaya argues that this is an 18th- or 19th-century assemblage of 16th-century panels, possibly Flemish (Kryzhanovskaya 2014).

Provenance
Collection of Stepan Nikolaevich Mitusov (b. 1847; d. 1922?), Saint Petersburg: his sale,1897, lot 7 (Katalog kollektsii predmetov iz slonovoi kosti S. N. Mitusova (saint Petersburg, 1897), no. 7). Collection of the Museum of the Society for the Encouragement of the Fine Arts (Muzei OPKh); transferred to the Hermitage in 1933.
