Courting couple (meeting of lovers); couple embracing; fashionable dress (hood).

Porter 1974: English, 14th century.

Polychromy - Gilding
Some brown staining in the hair and black in the eyes.

Reverse
Carved in the round but lower relief on the back.

Object Condition
Features worn. Point is chipped.

Comments
The eyes are pierced with holes filled with a dark substance.

Provenance
Collection of John Hunt (b. 1900, d. 1976) and Gertrude Hunt (b. 1903, d. 1975), Limerick; now part of the Hunt Museum which opened in 1997.
