Traces of two missing hinges on the right side.
Reverse
Smooth and flat. Remains of grey label. Modern ink inscription 'W.M.' (for William Maskell), '58', 'WE'. White label holding the two pieces of ivory together.
Object Condition
Broken: vertical crack, repaired. The material used for the repair is visible through the hole below the angel.
Provenance
Collection of William Maskell (b. 1814, d. 1890) (no. 58): bought from him by the British Museum in 1856.
