Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of original gilding and polychromy: lead white, blue (veil, eyes), red and green (crown, cord), gold (along the hems).Traces of 16th-century gilding: flower, crescents and star motifs on garments.

Reverse
Carved in the round.

Object Condition
Missing: fingers on the Virgin's right hand; right hand of Christ; base partly broken.

Provenance
Demotte collection, early 20th century. Bought by François Baverey from Brimo de Laroussilhe in 1924. Baverey collection: given in lieu of tax by Geneviève Baverey, widow of André Baverey (d. 1989), son of François (d. 1956).
