Comments
This piece is considered to be a copy of a 13th-century statuette at the Musée Départemental des Antiquités de la Seine-Maritime in Rouen (Inv. 807). In 1893, the statuette was placed on a gilt bronze base decorated with a row of fleur-de-lys in a Renaissance style (Spitzer sale catalogue 1893).

Provenance
Collection of Frédéric Spitzer, Paris: his sale, Chevallier and Mannheim, Paris, 17 April 1893, lot 74. Collection of Oscar Hainauer (b. 1840s?, d. 1894), Berlin (Inv. Eb. 6). In the Museo Lázaro Galdiano by 1949.
