Traces of polychromy and gilding: green (motifs of the Virgin's robe); gold (crown; hair).

Reverse
Slightly curved. Smooth except for some crosshatching in the lower part of the piece.Scratched inscription. Handwritten ink inscription 'W.M.' for William Maskell.

Object Condition
Missing: lower right corner broken.

Provenance
Aquired in France. Collection of William Maskell (b. 1814, d. 1890); British Museum, by purchase, 1856.
