Reverse
Chamfered outer edges.
Object Condition
Outer edges bevelled. The panel was originally oblong but it was changed into a rounded- top piece. Traces of the original trefoil arch (or is it a trace left by the metal pax frame in which it was kept?) and of one colonnette are still visible on the background. Notch at top, middle.
Comments
This diptych wing was given this rounded shape and inserted into a metal frame with a handle at the back to be converted into a pax.
Provenance
Félix Doistau collection, Paris; gift of Félix Doistau to the Musée du Louvre, 1919.
