Brickwork or tiled roof in the spandrels. Crosshatched background. Pinnacles.

Museum's opinion 2011: Flemish or French, late 15th century.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the left side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Modern paper label, 'MRH 29' (for Major Rhode Hawkins). Pencil inscription: '15'. Round white and blue partly torn label.

Object Condition
Repairs around the missing hinges.

Provenance
Collection of Major Rhode Hawkins (b. 1820, d. 1884) (no. 29); purchased by the British Museum through Christie's, London, 1885.
