Polychromy - Gilding
Extensive gilding (canopy and architecture) and polychromy: brown (background, architecture, books, hair), green (canopy).

Reverse
Flat. Crosshatching in the centre. The pinnacles are carved in the round.

Object Condition
Missing: right hand of angel holding the sun; upper part of the pinnacles.
Hole in the gable (plugged).

Provenance
Collection of Major Rhode Hawkins (b. 1821, d. 1884). British Museum, purchased through Christie's, 1885.
