Seated Virgin and Child; Christ in long robe; Christ sitting on the Virgin's left knee; Christ making a blessing gesture with his right hand; Virgin trampling on a monster under her left foot; bench.

Koechlin 1924: France, late 13th or early 14th century.
Gaborit-Chopin 2003 and Museum's opinion 2010: Paris, c. 1260-c. 1280 and 19th century.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of original polychromy under a later layer.

Object Condition
Virgin's head broken and recut, right shoulder and part of the veil of the Virgin recut (19th century); right hand of the Virgin and left hand of Christ remade. Mark for attaching a later crown on the head of the Virgin.

Louis-Charles Timbal collection, Paris (no. 42); acquired by the Musée du Louvre in 1882.
