Seated Virgin and Child; Christ seated on right arm; Christ in long robe; crown; Christ holding a bird in his left hand; Virgin trampling a monster under her left foot; brooch.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of gilding and polychromy.

Reverse
Flat and crosshatched with two drilled holes; the head and torso of Christ are carved at the back.

Object Condition
Missing: right and left hand of Christ, right hand of the Virgin (all replaced).

Provenance
William Maskell collection (b. 1814, d. 1890); donated in 1856 to the British Museum.
