Meeting of lovers (courting couple); man kneeling before a lady; youth with a hawk; couple embracing; lady holding a dog.
Four compartments formed by four trees growing from the centre.
Corner terminals: crouching monsters (later).

Randall 1985 and Museum's opinion 2010: France, 2nd quarter of the 14th century.

Reverse
The centre of the back has been scratched with figures and letters (19th century).

Object Condition
Missing: four crouching monsters (replaced).

Comments
Very similar to New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1979.521.1 (Randall 1985).

Provenance
Bought by Henry Walters in Paris in 1930 from Henry Daguerre, list no. 14, 'Ivory small mirror case, 14th cty'; Walters Art Museum, 1931, by bequest.
