Crucifixion with thieves; Virgin supported by saint John the Evangelist; Holy Women; Longinus piercing Christ's side; Stephaton giving Christ vinegar; saint Mary Magdalene embracing the foot of the cross; ointment pot; crowd of onlookers and soldiers in armour; angel holding a chalice to collect Christ's blood; sun and moon; titulus; trees.

Extensive polychromy and gilding.

Reverse
Smooth and flat. Modern ink inscription, 'W. M' (for William Maskell) and '26'.

Comments
Comparable to a diptych from the Wallace Collection (S252), showing the Deposition and Death of the Virgin.
