Seated Virgin and Child; Christ standing on the Virgin's left knee; Christ in long robe; Virgin holding a fruit in her right hand; Christ pulling the front of the Virgin's veil.

Gaborit-Chopin 2003 and Museum's opinion 2010: France (?), beginning of the 14th century (?).

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy (not original).

Reverse
Partly sculpted (hand of the Virgin holding Christ).
Ivory pulp cavity visible.
Scratches for glue.

Object Condition
Chips to the forehead and crown of the Virgin.Restoration at the base of the drapery.
Head of Christ broken and stuck back on (re-carved?).

Collection of Baron Jean-Charles Davillier; bequest of J.-C. Davillier to the Museum in 1883.
