Standing Virgin and Child (Vierge glorieuse); two standing angels holding candlesticks; two angels holding navettes and swinging censers; female veiled figure kneeling in donor position; rosette.

Museum's opinion 2012: French, 14th century.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Label with ink inscription: '2870'. Central hole for the rosette in upper part of the piece. Remnants of glued paper along the edges.

Object Condition
Broken along lower rim.

Comments
This piece may have been the centre panel of a triptych or polyptych but there is no trace of hinges.

Provenance
Collection of Peter and Irene Ludwig, Aachen (purchased from the Blumka Gallery, New York, in 1964); their donation to the Museum in 1977.
