Extensive gilding and polychromy: blue, green, gold.
Reverse
Flat, some scoring. Modern ink inscription, 'W. M' (for William Maskell) and 'xλv'. Illegible ink inscription in the lower part of the panel.
Object Condition
Extensive traces of polychromy and gilding (faded).
Comments
Covered with a modern plate of rock crystal and mounted on velvet (also modern; already mentioned by Koechlin 1924).
Provenance
Collection of William Maskell (b. 1814, d. 1890) (no. 17): bought from him by the British Museum in 1856.
