Side 2: head of a lady; elaborate headdress.
Foliated decoration.

Koechlin Number: 1235

Sauzay 1863: 16th century.
Molinier 1896: France or Flanders, early 16th century.
Koechlin 1924: Flanders or Northern France, 1st third of the 16th century.
Châlons-en-Champagne 2007 and Malgouyres 2010: France (?), 19th century in a 16th-century style (before 1835).


Carved in the round.

Collection of Charles Sauvageot (acquired in 1835; mentioned as '1483. tête double du Christ et de la Vierge en ivoire. Pièce terminant 1 chapelet ou chevalière 20 f. crochet en argent 3 f. 20 [fr.]'); gift of C. Sauvageot to the Museum in 1856.
