Crosshatched background; brickwork or tiled roof.

Longhurst 1929: France, late 14th century.
Williamson and Davies 2014: Northern French, Netherlandish or English (?), late 15th century.

Smooth with longer edges chamfered.
Small label with inscription: 'I.71'.

Object Condition
Missing: portions of the upper and lower borders.
Stained brown.Long vertical crack.

Comments
The relief was probably originally in a metal frame with handle.

Collection of James Gurney: Gurney sale, Christie, Manson & Woods, London, 9 March 1898, lot 161; collection of John McAndrew, Holly Hill, Coleman's Hatch, Sussex:McAndrew sale, Christie's, London, 2 December, lot 147; purchased by the museum in 1925 from G. R. Harding through Dr W. L. Hidlburgh.
