Depth: 7 mm

Seated Virgin and Child; musician angels (string instruments including a rebec and a psaltery; portable organ); throne decorated with tracery and pinnacles.
Pointed trefoils in the gables.

Museum's opinion 2015: German (Rhenish), 3rd quarter of the 14th century.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the right side.

Reverse
Flat, with some scoring.

Object Condition
The panel has broken into two pieces. The vertical crack through the panel has been stabilised with light balsawood bracing and a loss to the panel infilled with tinted Japanese paper.
Missing: part of the background, to the right of the Virgin.

Provenance
Purchased on the London art market in 1929 thanks to the Felton bequest.
