Side 1: Annunciation; vase of lilies; dove of the Holy Spirit.
Side 2: seated Virgin and Child; Virgin holding a flower in her right hand; Christ standing on the Virgin's left knee; blessing gesture.

Reverse
Carved on front and back, smooth sides. Right side: ink modern inscription 'OVM'(?), '138' and 'III'. Left side: carved indent with remains of adhesive and drilled hole.

Object Condition
Drilled holes at the top and bottom.
Cracked base and around the drilled hole on the upper side.

Comments
Possibly originally at the base of a crozier's volute.

Provenance
Collection of William Maskell (b. 1814, d. 1890); bought from him by the Museum in 1856.
