Emperor Maxentius ordering the fifty philosophers to be burned alive. Saint Catherine of Alexandria before emperor Maxentius; she refuses to worship pagan statues; trees.
Pointed trefoils in the spandrels and gables.

Gaborit-Chopin 2003: Paris, 3rd quarter of the 14th century.

Missing: right side of the panel.
Holes for lost fittings.

Comments
This panel was the front panel of the casket, as is shown by the uncarved area where the lock would have been.
