Courting couple (meeting of lovers); youth with a hawk on his wrist; youth holding a heart-shaped lure for hawks; lady holding a wreath of flowers; lady holding a flower; lady wearing a horned headdress (bourrelet); fashionable dress; birds in trees; hawks flying.
Crosshatched background; roped border.
Carved inscription: 'quy byen ayme atart oublye'.

Van Os 1996: Northern Italy, early 15th century.
Rotterdam 2012: Southern Netherlands or Northern France, c. 1425.

Back turned with a depression for (missing) mirror. Label with inscription: 'MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA 1373'.

This mirror case may form a pair with another half in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam (Inv. BK-1992-27). See related objects.
