Monster swallowing the base of the volute; volute ending in a monster head (dragon).
Painted inscription: 'ecce Agnus Dei qui tollit peccata mundi'.

Extensive traces of gilding and polychromy. Painted inscription: 'ecce Agnus Dei qui tollit peccata mundi'.

Reverse
Carved on all sides.

Object Condition
Missing: foliated decoration around the volute.

Provenance
Collection of Pelagio Pelagi (no. 152); this collection was acquired by the Comune di Bologna in 1860 and subsequently divided between the Biblioteca Comunale dell'Archiginnasio, the Museo Civico Archeologico and the Museo Civico Medievale of Bologna.
