Register 2: Beheading of Saint John the Baptist.
Register 3: Visitation.
Centre panel
Register 1: Adoration of the Magi.
Register 2: Coronation of the Virgin. Two seated men.Standing apostles.
Wing, right
Register 1: Medallion enclosing a quatrefoil with the head of a king.
Register 2: Baptism of Christ.
Register 3: Presentation in the Temple.
Flamboyant gothic architecture; tracery; foliated decoration; coats of arms of Castille and Aragon.

Gaborit-Chopin 2003 and Museum's opinion 2010: Spanish, late 19th or early 20th century.


Attribution
Francisco Pallas y Puig (b. 1859, d. 1926), of Valencia

Reverse
Wood backing with two bronze handles decorated with animal heads and Flamboyant tracery.

Object Condition
Bone panels, some openwork, attached to a wooden core.

Comments
Francisco Pallas y Puig was a Valencian forger of ivories, active before 1910 (see A. Goldschmidt, 'Pseudo-Gothic Spanish Ivory Triptychs of the Nineteenth Century', in The Journal of the Walters At Gallery (1943), pp. 49-59).
