Comments
Estella Marcos offers to identify this piece with a present which was made to the Cathedral of Oviedo in 1300 by bishop Fernando Alfonso Pelaez, recorded as 'un evangelistario de marfil donado por don Gaufredo que residía in Roma'. However this does not seem to fit with the usual date given to this diptych and the description as an evangeliary would suggest the ivory pieces referred to were part of a binding.

Provenance
Mentioned in 1793 by Risco.
