Ivory

Height: 142mm
Width: 85mm
Depth: 8mm

Crucifixion; Virgin supported by Holy Women; Virgin raising both hands; saint John the Evangelist and onlookers holding scrolls; sun and moon; rugged cross. 
Pointed trefoil in the gable.

Museum's opinion 2013: France (Paris or Angers?), 2nd quarter of the 14th century.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on either side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth.Modern labels, with inscriptions: '27', '3', '75'.

Object Condition
Small hole at the top of the gable. Vertical crack with a small part of the background missing at the foot of saint John. Central hole visible only at the back. Patina.

Provenance
Collection of Louis Hugot: his sale, Drouot, Paris, 7 March 1924, lot 85. Sale, Drouot, Paris, 10 June 1988, lot 75: bought by the museum.
