Saint Margaret emerging from the dragon unharmed; saint Margaret holding a crucifix; angel crowning saint Margaret; saint Catherine of Alexandria with wheel and martyr's palm.

Dalton 1909: France, 14th century.

Hinges
Two modern hinges.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy: traces of red paint in canopy and frame, traces of green staining around the feet of the figures and on the martyr's palm.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Modern ink inscription: 'W.M' (for William Maskell) and '36'.

Object Condition
Missing: left border of left wing.Incisions along the right edge.

Provenance
Collection of William Maskell (b.1814, d.1890) (no. 36): bought from him by the British Museum in 1856.
