Crucifixion; swooning Virgin supported by Holy Women; saint John the Evangelist and onlookers holding scrolls; cruciform halo; sun and moon; clouds.
Pinnacles. Border of dentils.

Hinges
Two modern hinges.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy: stained green in the background.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Modern ink inscription: 'W. M' (for William Maskell).

Object Condition
Right part of left wing broken off and repaired; formerly repaired by wire (?) stitched into holes bored in three places on both sides of the line of fracture. Hole in the upper left corner of the left wing and upper right corner of the right wing.

Provenance
Collection of William Maskell (b. 1814, d. 1890); British Museum, by purchase, 1856.
