Comments
Jaeckel (1981) mistakenly says that this piece is in the Musée de Cluny.
This scene was previously identified as the German king Adolf of Nassau fighting Albrecht of Habsburg at the Battle of Göllheim in 1298. However, it is more likely to be King David or Charlemagne.
Provenance
Collection of Freiherr von Aufseß; acquired by the Museum before 1856.
