Centre panel
Standing Virgin and Child; Virgin holding a flower in her right hand; Christ holding a fruit or orb in his left hand; crown.
Wings, right
Register 1: Nativity with Joseph holding Christ.
Register 2: Presentation in the Temple.

Hinges
Two sets of two ring hinges on either side.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy and gilding: painted trefoil in the gables, along the hems, architectural details, hair, necklace, etc.

Reverse
Smooth and flat. Paper label: 'Art Treasures Exhibition, 1857. Museum of Art'. Back affixed with modern metal rings and attached to a plastic sheet.

Object Condition
A number of drilled holes. Restoration to gables.

Collection of Hollingworth Magniac, London (b. 1786, d. 1867) (exhibited at the Art Treasures Exhibition at Manchester 1857): his sale, Christies, Mason and Woods, London, 2 and 4 July 1892, lot 257. Collection of Charles Borradaile, Brighton (active 1905-1917): British Museum, by bequest, 1923.
