Register 1: Carrying of the Cross with the Virgin helping Christ. Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist.
Register 2: Judas receiving the reward (payment in silver); soldiers.
Wing, right
Register 1: Deposition with the Virgin holding Christ's arm; Joseph of Arimathea holding Christ's body; saint John the Evangelist; titulus. Entombment (Anointing of Christ's body).
Register 2: Betrayal (Taking of Christ; Kiss of Judas); lantern. Flagellation; whips.
Pinnacles.

Molinier 1906: Southern France, early 14th century.
Camps Cazorla 1949-1950: probably French, 14th century.
Camón Aznar 1951: French (?), 14th century.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy: pattern on the background; garments.

Reverse
Flat and smooth.

Object Condition
Each wing broke into two pieces which have been repaired and put back together (see ivory plugs on either side of the break).

Provenance
Collection of the ambassador of Russia (possibly Arthur Pavlovich Morenheim, Russian ambassador in Paris from 1884 to 1897). Collection of M. E. V.: sale, Hotel Drouot, Paris, 18-20 December 1893 (these two elements of the provenance are based on an autograph note of don José Lázaro on a piece of paper: 'Entre los objetos pertenecientes a M. M. E. Vxxx vendido en el Hotel Drouot el 18, 19 y 20 de Dic. De 1893, figura el díptico que fue del Embajador de Rusia y que Molinier lo clasificó como Sud de Francia y de principios del 14'). Dmitri Schevitch collection, Paris: his sale, Galerie Georges Petit, Paris, 4-7 April 1906, lot 143. Lázaro collection (from at least 1927).
