Dalton 1909: French, 14th century.

Kremsmünster Master (Museum's opinion)

Reverse
Carved in the round.

Object Condition
Missing: right forearm (restored), crown and nose of the Virgin; head and right hand of Christ.
Head of Christ is restored, although original. Ivory very cracked.

Comments
The Virgin formerly wore a metal crown, now missing (Dalton 1909).

Collection of William Maskell (b. 1814, d. 1890); British Museum, by purchase, 1856.
