Width: 70 mm

Wing, left
Death of the Virgin (Dormition); Christ holding the soul of the Virgin; apostles.
Wing, right
Coronation of the Virgin; angel crowning the Virgin; two angels holding navettes and swinging censers, standing on the sides of the bench; bench decorated with diamond patterns.
Pointed trefoils.

Museum's opinion 2014: France, end of the 14th century.


Traces of two missing hinges (original). Two later hinges.

Flat and smooth.
Inscription on the back of the right wing: 'Aus Kefermarkt' (one of the most important pilgrimage churches in Upper Austria).
Inscription recording the von Az provenance on the back of the left wing.

Object Condition
Vertical cracks down the right wing.

Collection of Moritz Ritter von Az (d. 1883), director of the main post office in Linz and president of the museum association; his bequest to the museum (then called Museum Francisco Carolinum) in 1883-1884.
