Wing, left
Register 1: Carrying of the Cross with the Virgin helping Christ.
Register 2: Betrayal (Taking of Christ; Kiss of Judas); Betrayal (Taking of Christ; Kiss of Judas); Christ restores Malchus' ear, cut by saint Peter.
Wing, right
Register 1: Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist; Longinus with spear kneeling in prayer; Stephaton giving Christ vinegar; Stephaton holding a bucket.
Register 2: Death of Judas; Flagellation.
Rounded trefoils.

Randall 1993: French (Paris or North France), 1365-1380.
Museum's opinion 2010: French (Ile-de-France), late 14th century.

Hinges
Two hinges.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Chamfered on the inner side of each wing. Red label with printed inscription on the back of the left wing: 'ART TREASURES EXHIBITION - MUSEUM', 'Stonyhurst College).
Label with inscription: 'on loan from Stonyhurst, 18[year not filled]'.
Traces of red wax in the upper part of each diptych.

Provenance
Collection of Stonyhurst College, Lancashire (45th acquisition, 1800). Gift of Dr. and Mrs. Edward J. Ryan to the Museum in June 1984.
