Pentecost; Virgin surrounded by the apostles including Saint Peter and Saint John the Evangelist; dove of the Holy Spirit.

Two modern hinges (one broken).

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of gilding and polychromy (several layers, oldest (not original?): dull red, blue. See unpublished report by A. Cascio and J. Levy, 2002).

Reverse
In ink: 'Timbal / 57'. Labelled: 'no. 103', '2599'.

Object Condition
Small chips at the edges.

Comments
Gaborit-Chopin (2003) writes that this and other related pieces depicting the Ascension and Pentecost were probably made by the same atelier.

Provenance
Treasury of Charles V (before 1380?). Collection of Louis-Charles Timbal, Paris (no. 57); Acquired by the Musée du Louvre in 1882.
